Why I chose them
As someone who has gone on mission trips and flies myself, I was drawn to Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF). I had the opportunity to speak with a pilot who has spent his career flying for them, and hearing his stories showed me how much they do. They introduce people to Jesus, but they also provide for everyday needs and even fly people out to get medical care.
The flights are short but incredibly dangerous. Runways are dirt and stone, often on mountain cliffs, and they are extremely short. The weather can change quickly. It is some of the most dangerous flying in the world.

Why I chose them
My church did a mission trip to Freedom, and my entire family went along. Each day, we either worked construction for the school or served as aides in the classroom. After the work day, we went out to the poor villages to help with Vacation Bible School and play with the kids.
I never enjoyed school as a kid, so I signed up for construction. But after a few days in the villages, doing VBS and playing with the kids, I found myself spending most of my time in the classroom instead. Seeing how much the school means to those kids changed what I thought I was there to do.
What Freedom does for these kids is life changing, but it didn’t stop with them. Every one of us who went came home changed too. God is truly working there.

Why I chose them
That need for pilots is what drew me to Proclaim Aviation. There aren’t enough pilots doing mission flying, and the path in is steep. It takes a lot of flight hours, which makes it very expensive, and training that goes beyond flying: language, culture, and how to genuinely serve the people you’re there to help.
Proclaim Aviation helps close that gap by taking someone from a recent graduate to serving in the field with a curriculum built specifically for the mission.
